1st post in 2010

This is my first blog in this brand new year 2010. Its a begging of new decade and will be an important one for me. Again Im with some goals for this year and for the decade.

Lots of hard work was put in to achieve things during last 10 years. There were some positive results as well. There was a negative side too. But Im kind of happy with certain things and in a situation to look forward for new decade. Hopefully coming decade (most probably during last five years) is the time which will really give back good out put for the effort put during last decade.

I really miss blogging last year. I didn't write any interesting post and the simple reason is I was stuck with lots of important work as well as lots of personal commitments. Nothing will change in this year but hoping to manage all the sides with better balance.

new project

We had the kick off for our new project yesterday. Im going to be the project Manager for this project while doing my usual job as Business Development Manager. This is the first account which Im facing to client doing multiple roles. I was involved with client from the prospect stage to closing the deal and now Im suppose to play PMs role. This should be an interesting assignment and I believe this project will give me the most wanted most waited experience to me.

when going through tough times

There will be something coming against you all the time. You can't expect a peace full path in life. Naturally its hard to face all these obstacles. Especially when things are coming against you one after the other. Its damn tough. But we can't wait things to be settle down to start our journey. If you try to do so, you will find that you don't have enough time to complete your journey. Because, there will be something coming against you most of the times.

We used to think about the causes for all these problems and discuss and find out the reason for those etc etc. This is an useless and your like wasting your time. Your wasting your precious and valuable time to think about meaningless matters. No point of talking about all these things. You need to learn from all the negative things you face in the past and face the future with positive attitude and hope and continue your journey. If you try to find out reasons and why this happened and what was the reason etc etc, you will be thinking about all these in your whole life. You won't able to complete your journey and achieve your goals.

Try to minimize the problems, try and reduce the number of mistakes, face the reality, keep your head up during hard times and more importantly act, do the right thing at right time when your going through a tough time. We need to take all possible corrective actions we can take and face it. No matter how ward it is.

I didn't able to post anything for last so many months. This will be my 2nd or 3rd blog for this year. But hope to maintain my blog and post something interesting as much as I can from today. I don't want to give execuses about not posting anything. But this is one thing which you could face when your running with high tention/stress. Any way Im back :)

looking forward to 2009

2009 begins with red alert. Entire world is facing to so called economic crisis. According to experts, this is the worst rescission after 1930s. We can't so much with all these as usual. I rarely herd people talking about good times in business and we are kind of used to dynamic market conditions. Our generation is born and grown up with this damn war and it made SL marketing conditions so dynamic alonne with stupid decision taken by all these politicians. There for this is not something very new with us. But people are so worried about this than ever. 

As I mentioned earlier also, there nothing much we can do than open our eyes and ears and work smarter. 2008 was not a good year when it come to sales. There for we need to do something and catch up in 2009. This what was in mind. Actually this is still in my mind and working towards that. I always believe we should try and use all the negative things for our advantage. There are certain opportunities come alone with all the threats. 

Any way its time to face this and get things done.

happy new year

Its a brand new year with lots of hopes and dreams. You mite have to face to more challenges. But its important to keep the head up and walk towards your goals. Believe yourself , think and work smarter. Make sure that your not going to do the same mistakes done in last year. Its time to learn from the mistakes of last year and face the coming year with more strengths.

BCS - National Best Quality Software Awards 2008

It was last Friday 17th October, evening. Professionals from Srilankan software Industry and IT academies were gathering to Waters Edge Grand Ballroom for BCS National Best Quality Software Awards (BCS - NBQSA) 2008. I was there with my colleagues (Team X-ONT). We were nominated for two awards in two different categories.

 We won bronze for CellMAGIX which is a mobile solution to sell pre paid phone cards. ORNOX is the other product which isa Business Geographies Information System (GIS). We won Silver for this. Business GIS is kind of new to Sri Lanka and we are proud to be the first company to deploy Business GIS in Sri Lanka. You can link this product with any database and you can see your business information on maps. It helps to do different analysis along with different layers such as geographic and demographic layers. 

Team is so happy with awards after great hard work. All the credit to development & GIS teams.

progress on multi tasks

I didn't able to post anything again for some time. I always want to keep my blog alive and keep things happen here. But its not happening due to some reason. Im not so happy wit me about this. Any way Im in a really tight schedule again. Its only two weeks for INFOTEL. But Im not still so happy with the things specially the design of the stall. Im expecting my designer this evening to discuss this. I have to finalize this today itself. 

The project which Im handling is on track and I hope the climate to be same till end. Process Improvement project is bit tough since there are lots of things to read and write. Im really interesting about this project since there are lots of new things to learn and its quite interesting. More importantly CMMI will helps to improve the quality fo work and streamline the business processes which is an important thing. 

I need to re-look at Sales & Marketing work and do the necessary changes. We need to take the maximum from INFOTEL and keep the focus from there without missing single contact.

Finally my time is fully booked with all these different tasks but Im still enjoying my work.
